Feel a need to push back here. You wrote: "I predicted the writers’ strike would do more to help Netflix than harm it....The strike increased the relative value of Netflix to consumers." This is beyond cynical. The writer's strike didn't increase the value of Netflix to consumers. Me and multiple friends have cut ties to Netflix because their programming suffered during the strike. Netflix and other streamers act as if they don't need writers (and actors). This is absurd and the dearth of decent programming is the inevitable result. I've grown tired of the "Netflix Shuffle," spending hours trying to find something decent to watch. The main reason Netflix increased members is because they cut down on sharing and viewers who once watched for free signed up to continue viewing. I'm not alone in my opinion that Netflix programming is largely crap.
