Great piece. Back in the 90's, I had a friend who was an accountant with a gambling addiction. I went to a Dodgers game with him and he had four beepers. He kept going to pay phones when the beepers went off. He ended up owing bookies more than $500,000. He embezzled funds from clients, was caught and spent six years in the same prison as Charles Manson. He's free now, but he's not allowed to practice accountancy. He picked up weightlifting in prison and has become a personal trainer in his 50's.
